Come Follow Christ
Equipping Team

2018 Charge Conference Report

The Equipping team was established in 2016 to focus on the Education of Children and Youth. Sunday School, Children’s Church, Easter Egg Hunt, VBS, Promotion Sunday, and the Christmas program come under its umbrella. One of the first projects it assumed was getting the Sunday school program using a consistent literature. In 2017 it restructured the Sunday School program from 3 age level classes to 4. Presently, classes are offered for Nursery, K-3, 4-6, and teens. All classes with the exception of the teens use the Deep Blue Curriculum and the teens use Faith Weaver. Our younger children work in cooperation with our Go Team to create holiday cards for Fox Trail (a local Nursing home) and our teens visit 1 Sunday a week and assist with worship.

The Easter Egg Hunt was held the Saturday before Easter.  The egg hunt focused on sharing the story of Jesus as our Savior, as well as inviting the community to hunt Eggs, do crafts, and share a snack.

Preparation for VBS began in January and all the hard work certainly showed in July with an outstanding Bible school.  This year we used Shipwrecked. Many wonderful adults and teens spent countless hours planning, preparing, decorating, and doing, to create a fabulous, loving, learning atmosphere. The children enjoyed stories, skits, experiments, music, crafts, snacks and outdoor play. Advertised to the community, we had approximately 30 children attend.

Bible school concluded on Sunday with a special invitation to all parents to attend our 11 o’clock Worship service where the children presented a special melody of VBS songs. VBS Sunday concluded with a delicious luncheon.

We celebrated our students on Promotion Sunday starting our Sunday with doughnuts for all. A special All ages Sunday school class was held.  At the 11:00 service the children sang a medley of their favorite Sunday School Songs. We concluded this event with the Sunday School Picnic held after the 11:00 service. We enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs with some delicious sides and fabulous desserts. Fellowship was enjoyed by all.

Our Christmas Program is presently under construction. We are hoping to pack the house once again as we did for our 2017 presentation of the The Donkey’s Tail. This presentation featured our children but required all “hands on deck” for costuming, directing, staging, and practicing. Our Pastor starred in this Production as the wise old donkey.  He was not type cast!
